The Trinity
We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Equal in essence and power, distinct in role. One God whom we worship, serve, and obey.
LUZ Impacto is an interdenominational evangelical Christian ministry. These are the convictions that hold up everything we do.
We serve alongside evangelical churches of different traditions and we respect their differences on secondary matters. This statement covers the essentials: what every historic evangelical church recognizes as the foundation of faith in Christ. It's what unites us, and what we preach in every school.
We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Equal in essence and power, distinct in role. One God whom we worship, serve, and obey.
We believe that the Bible — Old and New Testaments — is the inspired, true, and sufficient Word of God. It is our final authority in doctrine, faith, and conduct. We add nothing to it and take nothing from it.
We believe Jesus is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived without sin, died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose on the third day, and ascended to the Father. He will return in glory.
We believe salvation is a free gift of God. It is received by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ — not by works or personal merit. Whoever repents and believes is justified, forgiven, adopted as a child of God, and given eternal life.
We believe Jesus Christ alone is the mediator between God and humanity. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved. That's why we preach Christ clearly, without alternate agendas.
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates the believer, dwells in them, guides them, and equips them to live and serve. We recognize the diversity of gifts the Spirit distributes among His people, and we honor the various traditions of local evangelical churches in how they understand and exercise them.
We believe the local church is the spiritual home of the believer. LUZ is not a church: we are a ministry that serves churches. When a young person receives Christ at one of our events, we connect them with a local evangelical church nearby where they can be discipled, gathered, and walked with.
We believe in Christ's command to make disciples of all nations. We begin with Costa Rica's schools because that's where we are and where God has placed us. Making disciples is integral work: we walk with the student academically, professionally, materially, and spiritually — because the gospel is not preached in a vacuum, it's lived alongside the one who hears it.
There are issues on which evangelical churches hold different positions (mode of baptism, emphasis on specific gifts, fine points of eschatology). LUZ does not take a public position on these matters so as not to limit our partner churches. Every young person referred is discipled within the doctrinal framework of the local church that receives them.
If you share the essentials, we're on the same side and we'd love to serve together. Learn about the partnership model.
